You will begin your journey in Negombo with an overnight stay at Villa Hundira, relaxing by the beach after arrival. In the afternoon, visit the famous Brief Garden or Lunuganga Estate, two beautifully designed gardens rich in art, architecture, and history. End the day with leisure time on the golden sands of Bentota Beach.
Continue your journey along the southern coastline towards Mirissa, with a stop in Galle along the way. Explore the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, known for its colonial architecture, cobbled streets, boutique shops, and stunning ocean views from the ramparts. After exploring, proceed to Mirissa and enjoy a relaxed evening by the beach, perfect for watching the sunset.
Spend a full day enjoying Mirissa’s laid-back beach vibe. Early risers may opt for whale watching (seasonal, best from November to April). The rest of the day can be spent visiting Coconut Tree Hill, relaxing at beach cafés, swimming, or trying out surfing. Mirissa offers a perfect mix of relaxation and coastal adventure.
Leave the coast behind and travel inland towards Yala National Park, a journey of approximately three and a half hours. The scenery gradually changes from beaches to dry-zone landscapes. After arriving near Yala, enjoy a peaceful evening at your hotel, surrounded by nature and wildlife.
Wake up early for an exciting jeep safari in Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous wildlife reserves. The park is home to leopards, elephants, crocodiles, deer, and a wide variety of birdlife. After the safari, return to your lodge to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
In the morning, drive to Udawalawe. Visit the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned and injured baby elephants are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild. Depending on your preference, you may also choose to enjoy an optional afternoon safari in Udawalawe National Park, well known for its large elephant population.
Travel into Sri Lanka’s scenic hill country with a drive to Ella. As you climb higher, the landscape changes to rolling hills, tea plantations, and cooler temperatures. After checking in, relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain views or explore Ella town at a leisurely pace.
Spend the day discovering Ella’s natural highlights. Walk up Little Adam’s Peak for breathtaking panoramic views, visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge hidden among lush greenery, and enjoy an adrenaline rush on the Flying Ravana zipline. The relaxed atmosphere and cool climate make Ella a favourite among travellers.
Use this day to explore Ella more deeply. Options include hiking to Ella Rock, visiting the scenic Ravana Falls, joining a local Sri Lankan cooking class, or simply relaxing at one of Ella’s many charming cafés while enjoying the mountain scenery.
After breakfast, depart Ella and drive to Kitulgala, a lush rainforest area famous for adventure activities. Surrounded by rivers and dense greenery, Kitulgala offers opportunities for white-water rafting, jungle walks, or simply enjoying nature in a tranquil setting.
On your final day, drive back to Colombo International Airport, a journey of approximately two and a half to three hours. Depending on your flight time, there may be an opportunity for a final scenic stop or meal before departure, bringing your Sri Lankan journey to a memorable close.
